AYD - Feb 15, 2013 - I want to be Embarrassed

"Nothing is so embarrassing as watching someone do something that you said could not be done."
- Sam Ewing

You may recall I commented here about how we may hear a message numerous times in our life, and then on some unexpected time it finally carries a meaning that we touch.  Somehow it finally grabs us and sinks in for an effect.

I shared today's quote with you not long ago.  But then today, I read it again...and I found a whole new picture playing before my eyes. A whole new jab and punch that caught me off guard but smiling at the lesson learned.

Rather than stressing over a work colleague or a competitor or a friend embarrassing me by doing what I surrendered could not be done.... my mission this weekend is to embarrass myself.

I am going to find something I pushed off, gave up on, lost hope or interest ... overall, felt it could not be done - and I am going to take a run at it again.

I want to embarrass myself and do that which I said could not be done.

Our challenge...is to greet Monday morning with the title, Ride the Wave of Success.
I want to have a successful attack on my own Quit meter - and say hello to you on Monday with that title, and then carry that level of action and attack onto other things at my work.

Next week is an ongoing assault on the "Can't" list.  Starting today.

This is my race.

See you on Monday at the finish line, and the starting line.  And our motto for the week will be,

Ride the Wave of Success.

On your mark...get set....

AYD - Feb 14, 2013 - Paint a Strong Visual

"Clothes make man.  Naked people have little or no influence on the society."
- Mark Twain

I am just going to let your imagination run with this one today.

But just to fire the starting gun .... should you find yourself losing valuable energy to an annoying and momentum stalling person... naked people have no influence.  ( Hint - make a mental picture.)

Happy Valentines Day to All.

Good Morning.

AYD - Feb 13, 2013 - Think about the Small Stuff

"You become great by doing small things in a great way."
- Zig Ziglar

There is someone in your day, that makes a huge difference.
Often times, it is someone we unintentionally take for granted.  They do their part so well, we just come to expect it.

We may comment on it to others occasionally, but then often, the thought and recognition are gone.

It is not enough for me to say that you should acknowledge someone that fits this outline.  I would like you to do two things.

Think of someone who does some task around your day.  A task or tasks that do not often get caught on the radar, but they do them well, and it is like the grease that keeps the gears revolving smoothly.  Consider for an extended moment the value effect of their doing those tasks well.  What impact does that ripple forward for your benefit.

Consider that, and then express gratitude to them in some non-routine way.  Would you want to receive a simple pass-without-pause hand shake and a mumbled thanks for something you do?  No, so apply some genuine you to the gesture.

And now, for a little self care.  Consider something you do.  Maybe some small, no capital letter event that you pull off each day.  Ask yourself if you do that small thing in a great way.  If you do, reach up...way up...and give yourself an acknowledging Grandma squeeze of the cheek.

If you don't do something small in a great way .... I challenge you ... could you?

Become Great today... in a small way.

Good morning.

AYD - Feb 11, 2013 - A Friendly Hello

"True friendship resists time, distance, and silence."
- Isabel Allende

There is a trivia game show on television, I cannot remember the name of it, however...one of the options to find answers you do not have, is to Phone A Friend.

Funny how I remember that detail and not the name of this popular entertainment piece.

We are good friends with our neighbors.  They are some of the finer people you will ever meet.  They have a busy schedule.  Ours is getting busier.  We barely even see each other in the driveway anymore.  Recognizing that, we called them up and made dinner plans.  We called them about a month ago, compared notes, and the best day for us is 2 weeks from now.  You do what you have to do.

Opportunity Monday says spend some time with a friend.  Send an email, write a letter, make a call or... even just a few moments of quiet time thinking about them and the value of that friendship.

Two things happen here.  You make contact and that alone has many beneficial ripples for you both, and you also touch the value you appreciate about that relationship, and sharing a moment with that value, can possibly stay with you all day.

Life is busy.  Focus on the truth of a Friend, and focus on your truth that you offer as a friend.
And now, enjoy the moment for who they are, and whom you are to them.

Laying the path for the week to come.
Have a wonderful Opportunity Monday.
