Awaken Your Day - Dec 29 - Part of the Plan is to Plan

"Before you begin a thing remind yourself that difficulties and delays quite impossible to foresee are ahead. You can only see one thing clearly, and that is your goal. Form a mental vision of that and cling to it through thick and thin."
- Kathleen Norris, Novelist

Many of us at this time of year, are planning that wonderful "New Year's Resolution".
Maybe not 'planning' as much as hoping and trying to be convincing - to themselves, and then to everyone else.

While a resolution can be good, I prefer to label my New Year Plans as just that... plans, or goals.
Do what you must to take away the mental impact of 'pressure' but still make a commitment to yourself that you are going to apply your best effort.

Too often these resolutions are lined with a level of desperation, and then surrounded by negative energy. People are upset about their weight, or their job ... or something they deem as a fault and it must change...so they make a resolution...saying it feels better and they convince themselves...all will be better. But then, the first obstacle hits and they were too busy focussing on the promise to realize that there would be some tough turns to navigate on this journey...and then they give up.

I do not call it a "resolution". I call it a goal. A goal for something that is going to enhance my life so therefore I have everything to gain from staying focussed on it. AND... I know it will not always fall right into place for me, so I attempt to foresee what might rise up as an obstacle, and now I am more prepared.

The problems I may face, are nothing to stop me but the unprepared discouragement that attacks us can stop just about any of us.

Set a goal for this New Year promise on the horizon. Prepare yourself by accepting that things may not go 100% smooth but remind you of the rewards, and that these things are not show stoppers.

You still have your eyes on the prize and the awareness of why you are doing what you do.

Good morning.
Happy Holidays - and let's finish the year strong.

Awaken Your Day - Dec 24- A doorway to Celebrate

"Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation."
- John F. Kennedy

Your time is now.
The effort you put forward to make any kind of difference on what matters to you, that effort and energy all counts for something.

When you ask, "What can I do ?", do not let it be with that tone of despair or defeat. Presuming insignificance.

Ask it boldly, and with interest in an answer.

"What Can I do?"

You do not need to celebrate Christmas to adopt the need to Celebrate mankind at this time of year.

You do not need to buy presents or follow traditions that have no meaning to you to join in the Joyous attention that this time of year applies to our feelings of Goodwill, sharing, and making contact with the good in all people.

I think we have made it clear that you do not need an event, or special occasion to play a role, to make a difference; that all starts with you and can be expressed or acted out at any time and that is what we encourage. But seeing as how this is Christmas, and with this time comes a much more captive and receptive audience, along with the efforts of others who walk beside us in our efforts ... our time is Now.

Do a little ... to increase the total ... and together we make a larger difference.

Good morning...Great day.

Awaken Your Day - Dec 22 - Your Day, Your Decision?

"Be your own best advocate. You have the talent, energy and truck-loads of charm necessary for success. Now, add to that a little more faith in your efforts and watch things happen."
- Horoscope calendar for today.

Do you ever read your horoscope?
Are you one of those people that as soon as you read it, whatever those words said, you felt it?

Did you believe it?

If it was good...did you grab it and run thru your day using it like a lottery ticket ?

If it was bad, did you give up on the day and drag it with you like a heavy weight draining your energy?

My point? Did you let something someone else wrote - someone who does not know you, has never met you, has no knowledge about your ambition, your dreams, or your passions... someone who just grouped you in with millions of other people who share your birth "sign"... did you let that person tell you about your "daily destiny" and how it is going to be the same as those millions of other people... and from their words you are being told if you will find success, discouragment or a blah blah blah kind of day??

Well...if you are that person who gives all your power of decision to some words in a newspaper ...then try this. Read all the horoscopes...and pick the best one to be yours.

Seriously. If you are going to give up your power that easily - you should at least pick a prediction that best suits your results. And if you don't like that...send me $15.95 and I will surely tell you how to live your day.

Make sense? Let someone, or something lay out your blueprint, and you could very well be choosing the end before you start.

Maybe it is not the horoscope...so you think you are safe.

Well, what about these wonderful destiny controllers?

Coffee?
Cigarette?
Traffic?
Newspaper headlines?
Stock Quotes?
Alarm clock?
Lottery numbers?

Your crutch, you decide.
What fine line do you base your "daily destiny" on?

I invite you to take my horoscope from today, and treat it like a philosophy challenge.
It is not a "good day / bad day" prediction. It is an idea on how to take back control...

Opportunity greets you every morning at the very first fork in the road.
Your day. Your Decision on what path it will follow.

Awaken Your Day - Dec 19 - Simple Things

"Anything simple always interests me."
- David Hockney

Socks.

Okay...Christmas, and socks.

Got a mental picture now, don't you?

Funny how things take on a whole different set of values, as our growth ( phyiscal, mental and emotional) progresses.

Christmas morning, all excited for presents and opening stuff and wondering what you got and Oh Ya one of those! and AWESOME ! you got that ...and .... and .... What's this? A package of socks? Who gives a package of socks? Really??

This morning I was getting ready and much to my disappointment I realized I did not have any clean work socks. More, I did not have any clean pairs of those ones I like, those cushiony ones that make my feet not hurt.

Those cushiony ones that make my feet feel good.

Those...grey socks, with the little emblem on top that should sit right over my middle toe cause then the seam is in the right place and oh you remember when we found those and how soft they were on my feet and how good that made my whole body feel because we know what happens when my feet get sore they just ache and I feel it all up my back and I can feel the agrivation coming on and I get grouchy when my feet hurt and why can't every pair of socks feel like that much cushion and I sure wish I had just one more pair hidden here in the drawer if I could just find one more pair hidden here somewhere it would be just like, I don't know like a gift or something boy would it be a nice surprise to find just one more of those pairs ya that would make my day be just like a ... Christmas morning, when I was a kid.

Socks. Then, and now.

What else in your day may fall under the same banner, or evolved story of meaning...as socks?

I challenge you to find the value in all the simple things in your day that we often overlook...until it is not there.

Objects, people and abilities to do things.
Count your "socks" - count your blessings.

Good morning, good counting - and I urge you to comment here on the things you get reaquanted with.

Awaken Your Day - Dec 18 - Who might you be?

"Hard work spotlights the character of people: some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don't turn up at all."
- Sam Ewing

As soon as you mention "hard work" most people picture immediately some form of manual exersion. Hard work... is all around us.

Relationships are work.
Your job is work.
Raising a child, keeping a home, maintaining family values, making new friends, keeping old friends, becoming all you can be with your own personal development ...

All are work.

All can be listed under, "Hard Work".

And so I ask you - Who might you be in each of the catagories we mentioned?

Do you roll up your sleeves and do what must be done, for you are the better for it?
Do you turn up your nose, and turn your back for whatever reason?
Do you put any thought into it at all?

And, are you better off in your definition.
I know in some, I have had to change my response and my action.

Good morning.

Awaken Your Day - Dec 17 - Difficult Times

These are difficult times for all of us.

Sorry, did not mean to begin on a down note, but part of succeeding at a time like this is facing things head on and not sugar coating the truth.

What is happening in our world around us affects us all in some ways. Some of us directly and in our face. Others, thru someone they know experiencing some harsh times.

Today, you play a role. Aside from all of our discussions about Victim or Victor - and keep that in mind, the choice is always yours - you play a role of demostration and support.

If you are suffering hardship at this time, you need to demostrate calm for you and your family and do all you can to focus, so you can utilize every ounce of your experience and talents to see thru the clouds that darken our sunshine and find a solution. You are not alone. It may seem very difficult but you must try.

If someone you know is experiencing the difficulty, your role is support. What can we do to help? It does not need to be money. We just need to examine the situation and see where we can make things smoother while this person we care about struggles to find that way thru the cloud. Care.

We are all affected somehow, someway by all that is happening around us.
If we all can agree to not give in and become overwhelmed by it, we can change the tide.
Alone we feel defeated far too easily.

One act of random kindness.
Choosing to be a Victor and not a Victim.
Think about what you have to give - even if just a moment of listening.
Keep our eyes up, and looking at where we are going, and not down in despair.
Ask, "How are you doing?" , and then Listen to the answer.

Refuse to accept hard times as the way it must be.
Opportunity is lingering, although sometimes in disguise.

Good morning - and may we play our role very well.

Awaken Your Day - Dec 16 - Energy Redirected

It seems often at this time of year, that I find myself feeling more peaceful thoughts. More melancholy toward things. I catch myself in thought about someone whom I have not spoken with in awhile, or had some disagreement with.

I tend to put away some of the anger or resentment that had been accompanying thoughts of this person, and turn another page toward more of what really matters.

Maybe it is the season, the atmosphere.

Maybe it is just so tiring to be angry and it takes away the fun and the good energy that should be overflowing from my thoughts and well wishes.

It really does take energy to be angry with someone.

And what do we get in return?

Do we win the imaginary arguements we play out in our head? Come on, you know the one; in your fantasy you get the opportunity to tell them exactly how you feel and you are not intimidated so it comes out full blast and perfectly worded and you let them have it and in your thoughts they understand finally what was so obvious before but somehow they treated you badly.... and so on, and so on....and we roll in the negative thoughts.

Of course you win in your daydream...when they say sorry in your mind and you have this weight lifted off your shoulders...thinking, "Ya, that's what I would say...that would do it. That would make them feel horrible for how they made me feel."

If you call that winning. Now you find yourself at the end of an imaginary storyline and you are all revved up and you have turned the volume up on what annoyed you. And then we tend to hit the repeat button...imagining another time, another victory...for the same hurt, and so on and so on.

A wise friend once told me, "When it hurts more to hang on, that it does to let go ... Let go."

At the time it was about a bad relationship I was in. But you can use it for long living disagreements, and issues with family, or what ever may be the thorn with someone you have in your life. Are we overlooking and losing out on value - time for sharing - growing and experiencing life - maybe creating much better memories that make whatever the issue is fade away to forgotten irrelevance?

I urge you to examine any conflicting relationship you have right now. Pick one. Someone you care for, but you feel you are or have been wronged. I am not saying you have to call them and lay yourself out there for what you deem as more abuse. What I am asking is that you take a closer look at the situation and ask yourself what merit it holds.

Is it worth getting worked up over? Is it hurting you more to hang onto this?

Can you just release your grip on this rope that binds you to it - and just feel the stress leave your shoulders, your neck...and yes, your heart? What you do after you release is totally up to you for you know your situation, and I realize that just thinking pretty and peaceful thoughts does not always repair damage right away.

But if you could start by identifying that this feeling, expressed or held in, most likely does you no good to hang onto - and then, just breathing deep, looking around you at what is truly meaningful to you...and just release, you could then much better evaluate how you really feel, and what is your best plan of action for your self worth, your truth to your own self, and the effects on your ability to express how you feel.

Where does this lay on my importance scale? Is it relative to my dreams and ambitions, or is it detrimental and draining of my energy?

Make peace with something today. A feeling, a person, or a feeling about a person...just find something that you have been holding a lead rope too, and let it go.

One thing.

And mine will be two.

That friend you call, theirs will be the third.

Her sister, she will find a fourth.

You get the picture. Are you reminded of a role you can play today?

And ... maybe, just maybe, this afternoon we will be able to prioritize our thoughts and remember that Christmas is only a short time away.

There are alot of reasons I have to feel Joy this year.

And as I choose to think of those reasons, I am able to release my hold on a rope or two.

Good morning.

Awaken Your Day - Dec 15 - Do It Your Way

"When you do the common things in life in an uncommon way, you will command the attention of the world."
- George Washington Carver

Many of you would be familiar to some extent with Frank Sinatra's famous, "I Did it My Way".

Once again I see a statement that we all take on surface level, and we absorb the meaning for the moment that we hear it, and then we carry on doing things the way the masses do. There is such an addiction to keeping close to what is familiar among people.

I have thought at times, that this could actually be the most serious of all addictions the human race will face. To be so totally dependant on doing things by the book. Or in a manner that is comfortable. And this is for anything. From our daily routine, to your dependancy on a J.O.B. to how we raise children to how we teach ourselves to how we brush our teeth to how we express our love to how we dress to how we plan a wedding .... and so on, and so on, and so on.

Tradition, or habit, or fear...call it what you will. We often do not consider doing things a bit different that "usual". We do not consider it unless we make ourselves aware of how we feel about something, and then make the bold statement, "I am going to be different."

I am tempted to say, spice it up.

How does anyone think we evolve thru the ages, if not for someone having the idea, and then the courage to just do it a bit more like the way they want?

I could list ideas and examples all day. But that is not the point.

You, can make a game of it. Ask yourself today as you do things...is this the way I would do it? If I had control, what would I adjust or do slightly different?

Do this at your job, so you might find a way or a suggestion for improvement.
Do this in your morning routine, to fix things that maybe you were not aware of that drain your energy because you are just following the template.
Do this with your relationship ... and ask yourself, why can't I be like that scene in the movie that everyone says is too good to be true? If it makes my partner that excited and happy, is it not a great thing to try?

Add an element of energy to something you do today, and tap into your creative side even for the simplest things in this life.

It is after all.... Opportunity Monday.
How will you design your hostile takeover of the routine actions that smother your creativity?

Good morning...Do it your way.

Awaken Your Day - Dec 10 - With a Grain Of Salt

"The more you find out about the world, the more opportunities there are to laugh at it."
- Bill Nye

There is alot going on around us.
Kind of overwhelming really.

Governments are arguing like kids in a sandbox.
Economies resemble a pile of puzzle pieces and you just know that there are a few pieces missing.
Technology is leaping past itself it seems almost every month.
The list goes on...some wonderful, some sad, more confusing.

It can be difficult to not take things too serious and let it all pull us under the invisible water line.
I encourage you not to sit and wait, holding your breath in case it happens.
I encourage you to embrace it a little.

While there are alot of negative things that stand out - understand that maybe it is best they do. For we can then then see them more clearly, even the bad things, and see what attention is needed.

And, try to remember that there are alot of hidden jewels in this world, waiting to entice your senses of wonder and enjoyment.

Overall, try not to hide in a circle of what is familiar. Open up some and get to the story behind the headlines. You will find that with a little more awareness, your understanding of what is happening around us will grow - and I am fairly sure you will find more opportunities to change worry, into a shake your head and giggle a bit moment.

Good morning.

Awaken Your Day - Dec 9 - And the Best Will Be

"Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out."
- Art Linkletter

We have had the fortune this year of hearing from friends and family that have had some tough times.

Sounds kind of cold when you first read that.

But what I mean is, we have had the fortune to have heard about the misfortunes that have happened in the lives of those we care about - and how they overcame that to turn it into a strength.

So often in this life we hear stories of triumph and overcoming hardship. For myself, it seemed as though one story blended in with another. A feel good story and for some reason, I could not recall those tales of success when I needed that connection. For myself, I found that if I had a closer connection to the person, it seemed as though I was able to absorb, and retain the value behind it a little more. I could draw on that easier, it came to mind more naturally.

And so, with the hardships of those that are close to us, we shared in the worry but we stand in the glow of the reward of how these friends and family have risen above the difficulty of the moment or instance, and now are stronger for it.

We find strength, and faith in overcoming - and we share it not just in the telling of a tale, but in providing support to others in their time of need.

Your hard earned strength, costs you nothing to share, but the benefits show a compounding value for all those that it touches.

So to touch on today's little comment... things turn out best for you when you find your path to making the most of any situation obviously, but things start off better for others when they can see the path you have laid out that enables them to confront challenges with awareness on how to make the most of it.

Have a good day, and may you make the most of good moments and challenging moments so that your value is compounded.

Awaken Your Day - Dec 4 - True Value

"A good home must be made, not bought."
- Joyce Maynard

I would like to apologize, for the our lack of entries recently. And today's message may seem simple and not all that inspiring.

However, alot has been happening in our lives recently, just like everyone has times when more life is packed into a smaller than we are used to time frame.

Alot has been happening, and it all comes back to focus - on the value we feel inside that place we call "home".

When I was younger, I always thought of a home as a house that 'I was able to purchase.' My goal was based on ability to obtain an object - not create an environment of who I am and the values I carried forward. Values, I had not identified with at that time, were not in my worksheet.

It was all about obtaining. And so, on the road, I never created that 'home' no matter where I lived.

You have an apartment...or a trailer, or a house. You rent, you own...the bank owns. No matter.

Make the space, and the atmosphere, reflect the Home you want to feel good in. Make your dreams begin with the space around you, and those dreams will take more shape, as you strive to reach for and achieve the physical 'home' to go with the unmistakable 'feeling' of home.

Good morning

Awaken Your Day - Dec 1 - One Random Act

Awaken Your Day - Nov 25 - Take What is Yours

"There is no such thing as a rich victim. Take back your power and realize that you create everything that is in your life and everything that is not in it. Realize that you create your wealth, you non-wealth and every level in between."
- T. Harv Eker

In times like these, one can find themselves easily in a level of despair.

Our economies are all in turmoil.
Questions are all around us as to what will happen next? Are we safe financially? What will happen with my job? What will happen with our business?
With that as well now, is the approachiing pressures of the holiday season and what that means to our bank accounts.

In times like these, one can find themselves easily sinking to deeper levels of despair.

So I understand it may be hard, but you must believe that you still have the power to change all of it. You have to power to level your playing field.

I may not be able to explain it all here in a few miraculous words, but you will be surprised to know that you can. Once you put the despair on the shelf, and just begin by controlling this moment.

Stop for a moment and get your thoughts in order. We must stop running around with everything at the same time, and dance with only one topic at a time.
Once you get your rhythm, and you are moving gracefully with one of the things you feel you must guide in your life, the more you can pick up another topic and continue to carry forward.

You create everything that is in your life. Single out those things that cause despair, and seperate them from all the others that only make them look darker, and more ominous than they are. Each thing by itself, cannot cloud your vision to solution. But let all worrisome things all stand together and they can easily block the sun.

Your finances can become a great dance partner, if you know when to lead.

Do not give your power, to speculation and worry. Begin with where you are and adjust the melody from here.

Now, grab your partner, and move.

Good morning.

Awaken Your Day - Nov 25 - It Begins

"Stress is an ignorant state. It believes that everything is an emergency. Nothing is that important."
- Natalie Goldberg

The week begins with the highest level of negative predictions. These predictions are fueled often by the stress we create thinking of all that must be done ...deadlines...catch up....etc etc.

And to add to the pile...we begin now to think about the holidays, and the To Do list that comes automatically with those.

You will get things done.
You will arrive on time.
You will find time for all that requires it.
But most importantly...
You will emotionally, and mentally Relax NOW...

You will not tell yourself that you will relax AFTER all of these 'things'.

Now is your key to controlling and fulfilling the Later.

One breath, one moment ... both right now.

Good morning.

Awaken Your Day - Nov 18 - Project "Today"

"All of the great achievers of the past have been visionary figures; they were men and women who projected into the future. They thought of what could be, rather than what already was, and then they moved themselves into action, to bring these things into fruition."
- Bob Proctor

I sometimes in my past took everything at face value.
I would read something and take it for it's obvious application, and did not understand how it may parallel, or be like a template for other areas of life's experiences.

"What is he talking about?" I can hear you ask.
Well, in a simple way - take today's comment. I would get caught on "great achiever", "project into the future", and in my thoughts I would be only thinking of great achievments, and long term goals.

What about today?
What about, right now?
Is this not where I need to see the beginning steps of success, to motivate and spur me on to another...until surely we see those achievements?
Yes, we need to project and see what is to be in order for us to help ourselves believe in what is to be. But, who is to say we cannot follow this same advice and at the same time, scale it down - to the here and now. This moment...before that moment can yet be.

As I said, certain words would trigger me onto a one act play - when if I would just look a little deeper, the thought that makes so much sense to my future success, also assists my present and daily success.

I see the day before me and I project into it...to moments in the middle and at the end. I control the beginning so let me look a little further. I see that the day has a lot in store, with numerous obligations and commitments. I see that I may get stressed or hurried; surely that potential is there. I will accomplish things, but will it be enough so that I am not burdened with it when I leave the office for the day?

That is what already is there - awaiting to lay out the pattern of the day.

Now, I have seen it and am aware of it. And now, I can plot a new course. I see the day has alot in store, and with some decisive action I know I can do this, this and that before the first morning meeting. I can share this and ask another team member to handle that. I can remove the stress with decisive action, that will in turn move me toward more of a desired outcome.

More of a "what can be" instead of accepting "what already is."

There is enough to stress me, but why? There is always alot on the go. This much we know, and this much we are aware of. I have the tools to be aware of the day ahead, and the tools to act so that what is / was, does not have to be the same today.

I project this day, so that as I project tomorrow, or a month into a plan - I am fully equipped to take those strides easily, so that when I achieve the big achievement, it will feel like the whole journey was just a walk in the park.

I simply need to think of today, as I would think of the whole desire.
Every day that we 'Awaken' becomes more fuel to keep our dream machine running on all cylinders.

Good morning - sorry I have been away so much lately.

Awaken Your Day - Nov 12 - Why Wait?

"If we discovered that we only had five minutes left to say all that we wanted to say, every telephone booth would be occupied by people calling other people to stammer that they loved them. "
- Christopher Morley

Why do we wait?
I know we get caught up in the busy play of life, but how is it that we so often overlook the simple things?

Expressing how we feel about those we care about, for their benefit and ours, should not have to become a scheduled item on our agenda. However, if it helps us to bring the expression back to a normal place in our lives, then do it.

Like every Sunday, commit to phoning family and catching up. Or that good friend, whose image is becoming faint and you really don't know what they are up to these days. As we make this commitment to set aside some time on a relaxing day, to make the effort to stay in touch and build on those releationships, it will soon become part of our awareness again, without the schedule.

And dare I say, we will feel a boost like a multivitamin, from the joy that comes from keeping this contact alive and well.

Good morning...don't rush to the phone booth, just be more aware to use it.

Awaken Your Day - Nov 6 - Laugh, At You.

"Once you can laugh at your own weaknesses, you can move forward. Comedy breaks down walls. It opens up people. If you are good, you can fill up those openings with something positive. Maybe...combat some of the ugliness in the world."
- Goldie Hawn, Actress

Have you ever heard someone say, " I bet years from now we will look back at this and laugh" ?
So, why wait for years from now?

Be it a tough moment in our life, a bad experience, or an embarrassing one where we did something we wish we could hit "rewind" on ... we would do ourselves well if we established our landing strategy in order to maximize our potential rebound.

We need to be able to take the moment for what it is, and not dwell ourselves into a despair pit but instead, pause...identify... shake our head with a little giggle, and begin the recovery right then and there.

"Well, I sure messed that up... Here we go!"

As Goldie states, being able to find the humor in our own weaknesses is a great asset. We cannot be perfect at everything. We are all strong and special in our own way, and we will encounter times when we need to admit that we are not strong in other areas.

Often, these moments find us, and that is when we need to be able to laugh at ourselves.
You will most certainly find that people laugh with you when you have a level of acceptance about a situation, rather than laughing AT you as you struggle to be free of the whole experience.

As you go thru the day, take a moment to reflect on some moments that outline your "weaknesses".
Can you turn "now" into that time when you look back and laugh at something that has happened?
And can you carry that good natured humor forward to something or sometime more recent.

I, for example, have to giggle at myself in something like traffic. I will get all bent out of shape over something another driver did. Rant. Rave. Explore my negativity for no real reason other than needing an outlet.

And then five minutes later somewhere in traffic, I do the exact same thing that guy did.
( No signal light is common.) And I am glad when the "A-ha" moment slaps me solidly, and I do enjoy laughing at myself when it happens. ( My wife even joins in. )

Good morning - good humor - we all need it.

Awaken Your Day - Nov 4 - A Little Bit More

"It's the little things you do that make a big difference. What are you attempting to accomplish? What little thing can you do today that will make you more effective? You are probably only one step away from greatness."
- Bob Proctor

One step.

When we just stop to consider Bob's words for a moment - one step. One step away from succeeding. One step away from doubt, and negativity and into the path of the goal you seek.

We can see and feel that really, anything we want is within our grasp. We just need to do that one little extra thing sometimes and we are rewarded with the compounded success.

You have desires, and dreams and goals. Or you have some thing today even - like a meeting or an interview. What one little thing can you do, to bring out the best and make you that much more successful.

Don't make it difficult, for this whole philosophy is that often, one step of "a little bit more", is all it takes to reach the top.

Good morning. Have a very enriching day.

Awaken Your Day - Nov 3 - A Simple Smile

"A smile is the shortest distance between two people."
- Victor Borge

Grab it, and run with it where you may.

Be aware of when you receive one. How do you feel?
Watch reactions when you give one. What feeling do you see?

Pick someone who needs one. Assume the feeling it creates is a good one.

Simple enuf right?
Now please....continue.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 30 - Running A Day

"Either you run the day or the day runs you."

"The few who do are the envy of the many who only watch."
- Jim Rohn

Somedays, okay...many days... it can be just the simplest little reminder to get our butt in gear, and we find ourselves with a full glass of focus.

Complexity is not necessary when we are reaching for personal growth - Consistancy is our first and one of the most important ingredients.

Little by little, we practice enhancing our awareness, to stay focussed and visit our goals and dreams...and little by little action steps in and we see ourselves moving in the right direction.

This morning, I am one of the tired ones...trying to rub the mish mosh of thoughts and To Do's from my head. And I know at some point I will look up and see someone who has it all together and is action in motion.

For a moment I will be envious ... that moment right before I decide to follow their lead and shake out all my loose ends.

Will it be YOU I follow... or will you see me and follow My lead?

It does not matter. At first we follow, so that we can lead.

Let's go for a run, the day is young.

Good morning.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 28 - Make Time for Now

"In making a living today, many no longer leave room for life."
- Joseph R. Sizoo

I think it pretty much speaks for itself.
There must be a balance, and dare I say, the balance needs to tip into our favor - that of getting more enjoyment and fulfillment for our time and in our lives.

There is a way, and together we will find it.
Do not spend time engulfed in despair, but rather use that time to study those who have the balance sheet on their side.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 24 - Review to Carry On

As we forge ahead on our journeys and quests for our passions and dreams, there are times when it is beneficial, even vital, that we pause and take inventory of all the wisdom we picked up along the way. Like an inventory of our resources and assets that we may begin to overlook as we strive for our next step on the goal ladder.

In these times of full schedules and busy go go go, might I suggest we pause, and flip thru thoughts, or notes of the journey so far.

It is a weekend before you. Gather up your successes and flip thru them. Gather those moments, comments that hit home and triggered action or passion and reignite them again.

Ask yourself some goal setting questions.

And...enjoy your day.

Quick reflection for myself is with those words I see here everyday, but due to that, I know I do not "hear" them everyday. Have a wonderful, and refreshing weekend.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 23 - Past is Past

"A form of addiction, the past is as much of a vice as tobacco, alcohol, or carbohydrates."
- Mike Lipkin

Hard to see where we are going if we are constantly looking behind us.

Did you ever try that eye trick as a kid?
I used to have this Star Wars activity book when I was around 10 or so.
There was this little trick... you look at a picture of Darth Vaders helmet.
On the nose, was a single dot.
You were to look directly at this dot for like 30 straight seconds. Nothing else, and do not look away.

Straight at the dot. And then, you were to look up at a blank wall and blink quickly.
Amazingly, you would "see" the whole picture of this Darth Vader helmet.

As I have come to follow this new path in my life...one enhanced with much more awareness, I see an easy comparison between this "eye trick" and how we often perform a "mind trick" with images of the past.

We get this moment or picture in our mind of this negative thought, or event from our past...and we burn it into our brain with relating to it, retelling it, rethinking about it...over and over. And then, when we look up quick to this blank canvas that is the unscripted story of our future... we see, and 'burn' the image of the past directly in our path.

We see it, we relive it, we often recreate it. We revisit it over and over like an addiction.
One thing we are told is that we migrate to what we are familiar with subconsciously. There is an unspoken security in what we are familiar with.

Like patterns we have in bad relationships, we subconsciously continue to be attracted to what we are familiar with. Or bad track record with our dreams, or attempts to succeed.

We must break this dependancy on the past. We must find strength to move forward.
Period. We talk about it...we elude to it...and then we get distracted by it again.

Yesterday is over. This is now, that was then. Use it as a step, but not as a constant, "Used to Be..."

Good day.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 22 - Why worry?

"Worry does not empty tomorrow of sorrow - it empties today of strength."
- Corrie ten Boom

In these troubling and uncertain times, we must try with all our knowledge and experience, to not lose the integrity of our wisdom, to constant worry.

In the calm we can think clearly, but in the cloud of worry we cannot clearly see the ground upon which we need to take the great first step.

When you find yourself giving in to the ease in which 'worry' can consume us ... be aware, and stop. Grab hold of your breath and the racing thoughts that do not seem to have a beginning or end.

We accomplish much less when we focus on the negative, and begin to believe that we can do nothing.

Good day, and I wish you a worry free plan.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 17 - Begin with Belief

"Sometimes the key to successful risk-taking is merely to act, whether you feel ready or not. Eventually your confidence level will catch up to your actions."
- Libby Gill

The weekend is upon us.
You and I, have some things we wish to accomplish.
Silent enemy, procrastination, has been seen to be snooping around the area.
Maybe his buddy, fear, has been with him.
Somehow, we felt it. For we have yet to move forward on an action plan on a goal we set out for.
The time is now for a confrontation.

The only risk is the first step, and then we summon our courage to try another.
The only failure is in not trying at all. Begin and Believe.

Good luck with your dreams, goals or even just the task you have for the weekend.
Good morning, to set you on the right step forward.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 16 - Character & Friends

"When the character of a man is not clear to you, just look at his friends."
- Japanese Proverb

I told myself we would have a quick message this morning. Something light, and not too heavy.

And then I read this and started thinking..... great.... lots of thoughts on this one.

Let me be short and just say ... take a look at the people around you. Look specific now only to those that support you, share or promote your passions, and those that celebrate that you are who you are and they like you just like that.

Let us give time today to think of only the ones in our lives that are a true reflection of our shared friendship. We can analyze all others another day.

Today, just look at the friends around you, and what those friendships show you about yourself.
It is nice to know that we give something to those lives that enrich ours isn't it.
That right there is a gift we all silently wish for.

Have a wonderful day.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 15 - Dance

"Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance."
- Dave Barry

Strive to never sell yourself short.
Commit to you, that you will not give up without trying.
We must not deny ourselves the reward of doing those things we enjoy, out of fear of what we look like, or what others will say, or simply that we feel we are not good at it.

Everyone that is good at something, from tying their shoes to playing sports, being a kid to being a dad, or even taking charge of life - everyone had to begin somewhere.

I feel a good beginning, starts with embracing the moment.

Today, 'Just get up and dance.' Reward yourself.

Good Morning.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 14 - Experience

"Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted. It's a phrase worth considering at every brick wall we encounter, and at every disappointment. It's also a reminder that failure is not just acceptable, it's often essential."
- Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture

I believe that every experience of our lives carries with it an opportunity to take forward something valuable.

Yes, including the harsh times.

When we have run the emotions of the moment, be them good or bad, we have an obligation to ourselves to take meaning and experience forward so that we can be fully aware, prepared and mostly appreciative of what is to still greet us in our days.

When you have a setback, you must identify it for what it was and carry forward your understanding of why or how and then you are more equipped for the next attempt, and the odds move into your favor.

Your favorite sports figures practice this daily. Leaders encounter this constantly.
You and I are no different than the best in any of those fields.
We begin, we learn, we may fail, and we learn, we push forward and we remember what we learned, and we push forward some more.

Where are you this morning? And are you touching on all of what you have experienced to move you forward?

Good morning.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 13- Thanks

Today is one where I will ask you something simple, and I hope that the thought carries with you thru the whole day, thru each moment and everything you touch.

It is Canadian Thanksgiving Day today. And while it may appear that I took the easy road and just dropped the obvious in your lap, it is quite the opposite. I am struggling to keep it brief.

We set aside days to accentuate the feeling or message so that we can feel as though we have brought attention to something that is a soulful benefit to us all. A day for Thanks. We bring together family, which of course is a good way to see right in front of us what we are most thankful for. The celebration, while for some is just a routine, overall is a good action to follow.

However, I am more interested at this point in my life on how do I celebrate my thanks and all that I have to be thankful for - Daily? How can I bring it to my attention, in all the hectic activity that surrounds me, how can I feel and / or express this gratitude each and every day?

To me that is the challenge. And it may not be as hard as it sometimes appears. It is about passion and awareness. Beginning each day the way I do, here with all of us, helps me to bring attention to the front of my mind as to why I do what I do. What I want to share. The life that has so graciously wrapped itself around me. It opens the door for me to see the gifts I have been blessed with.

In the 100 Day Challenge we are in right now, today's task is to "go the extra mile." I right away thought of my chores in the house and my prep for my work, and taking care of my wife. And then one thought combined with another.

Going the extra mile.
Giving Thanks and being thankful.

Today my personal challenge, and you can join me, is to dedicate some honest, quiet, calm moments to going a little further into my list of reasons to be thankful. Go back a bit and find a few things that are truly the source of the gifts I may enjoy today. And then, acknowledge them.

Make a list if you wish, or just hang out inside your thoughts.
And in parting, may I say something just a little more personal.
Often, we are told we have to love ourselves, and when I was younger, I did not know how to understand that comment. Today I do.
So on the same note - spend a moment and Thank yourself for who you are, who you have become and who you are to others. You worked hard to grow to what is now.

And with that - I wish for you a wonderful day.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 10 - Decide and a Path will Show

"The first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want."
- Ben Stein

Sounds simple. Or should I say, sounds obvious?
Sure it is obvious. Obvious that most of us do not start at step one.

We often make a quick acknowledgment of something we 'want'...but then get off on the same old beaten path that has not led to it in the first place.

"Decide" is the same as Identify. Like when we discuss goals. They need to be more specific, and attainable. The connection needs to be more focused and you must give it great attention.

Start small...this weekend. What do you want in your life. Make a connection to even one thing you are interested in and think you wish to pursue. Put some thought to it. Maybe do a little research. Look around you. What would you change if you were empowered to make that change. Note: not if you "could", but rather if you were empowered to make the change. Because we both know...you can, but will you ?

So, what would you change, and what would that change bring to your life?
Decide...what you want. And then...

Good day and good weekend.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 9 - Excellence

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."
- Aristotle

Reaching for excellence, is not vanity.
Achieving it, is not ego.
Reaching and achieving is putting yourself out there in uncomfortable surroundings...not the ease of what we know, but rather the dark of the unknown. Testing oneself, pushing yourself to do more than you have ever done, to achieve more than you had dreamed of.

I long struggled with saying or expressing my thoughts of self worth, or stating that I felt I was good at something. I struggled with it because too often I was witness to people making such claims with a very thick layer of ego attached to it.

To be excellent at something, be it following your dream, or working on cars, or taking care of a child, or mowing the lawn - or playing a sport, it all required work, dedication and sacrifice. It took practice and more practice. It took your attention to task, over and over again.

You earned it.

Now if we can apply all that effort, all that desire for excellence to the simple things we do - we would bring out the best in ourselves more frequently until it became a natural habit.

Not an ego, but rather just who you are.
Someone who reaches, and grasps...dreams for and succeeds.
You get the benefit of a habit that constantly shows your talents.
We all get the benefit of following your lead and seeing results that benefit many aspects of life.

Strive for excellence - and it too will find you anywhere.

Good Morning.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 8 - Imagination

Do you daydream?

Somehow, I think I have asked you this before, and I believe I said then that I bet you do.
You should. I feel it is healthy; or it should be.

Aside from those times when we may catch ourselves playing out an act where we finally stand up for ourselves in some scenario that is the "I wish" of a conflicting situation we are experiencing in our lives - I do believe that daydreaming carries alot more pleasant visions and is a constructive part of our working things into good shapes in our mind's eye.

Plugging in the numbers.
Checking the angles.
Planning our route.
Setting our goals.

All part of a wonderful tool that we often do not remember is a wonderful asset - Imagination.

"Tell you, it was just my imagination. Running away with me."
- Temptations, "It's Just My Imagination"

I know for certain that I run away with my imagination many times a day. Not always aware of it at the time, but the trips are there.

The trick is to tap more into the good exploration department than the negative. It is quite easy to get carried away anticipating a conflict from some part of our day, and then our imagination runs with the negative until we get all worked up and then run into a bad relative - speculation.

Let's not go there. No really - together we need to say, "Let' s not go there".

Today, in the same pattern as the 100 day Challenge that I am enjoying, I would like to put out there a little task of our own.

Use your imagination.

Where do you want to be in a couple years? Run with it.
What does it feel and look like to have that project you are working on done?
What does it look like to have a clean house? Feels good I bet.
What does it look like around you, when you calmly saw the way to a bit more financial ease?
What does it look like to celebrate achieving some goal you have held close for awhile now?
Where would you be right now, if you achieved financial comfort and were doing what you wanted with your talents and unlimited power?

The list goes on.
Key here is for us to tap into the feelings and joys that come with imagining, and feeling the way we do and will, when we get to this good moment we have imagined.

Got it yet?
Use your imagination, to fuel your fire, to ignite your action today - to identify a place or goal, and to set your course to get to it. Feel the passion now, for the story and success that your imagination shows you. Feel the passion now, that you will achieve then.

And then...grab onto your desire, and your belief...and enjoy the tour.

It is Wednesday, and I can only Imagine what I can shape this day to be.

Good morning.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 7 - Preplanned Dreams

"If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put foundations under them."
- Henry David Thoreau

Another way of saying that it is okay to have our ideas and dreams up there in the clouds...shoot for the stars ... think big. Now, just put the action into motion that you need to see the staircase appear before you.

Happy building.

Good morning, good day, and enjoy the castle. It is a great view isn't it.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 3 - Results You Create

"In all human affairs there are efforts, and there are results, and the strength of effort is the measure of the results."
- James Allen

Sound like something you have heard before?

Like maybe.... You only get out what you put in?
Or... with hard work comes great reward?

This is not a coined idea. The concept has been around us all our lives. The question is when does the meaning take shape for us, so that we adopt the idea as part of who we are? When do we understand that it is a one size fits all template for all our effort, no matter what we are doing.

Learning to play sports, learning to play the stock market.
Setting a goal, making a date with a friend.
Going for a new job, or going for a promotion.
Planning a trip, doing renovations, trying something new, picking up something "used to do".

Name it.
You will do better, if you are conciously aware and enhance your efforts going in to the action.

The effort you put in, is directly measureable to the results you get.
Now, one day left in your work week. This applies.
A weekend of .... doesn't matter. This applies.

Reward yourself with increased effort.

Good morning - fabulous results.
I embrace my day and all I have to do.

Awaken Your Day - Oct 2 - Enthusiasm

"Every memorable act in the history of the world is a triumph of enthusiasm. Nothing great was ever achieved without it because it gives any challenge or any occupation, no matter how frightening or difficult, a new meaning. Without enthusiasm you are doomed to a life of mediocrity, but with it you can accomplish miracles. "
- Og Mandino, 1923-1996, Speaker and Author

This morning we have two powerful thoughts from the one. This is part of our growth as well, taking one message and seeing how it touches, and expands into other meaning, reaching like a flourishing tree branch, more and more toward the sunlight - inspiration.

We touch here on enthusiasm which for me this morning, was a nice "Ah ha" moment. All it takes sometimes is to see the word, and I am instantly brought back on track. Like a kaleidoscope I see the last few days of images flash before me showing me the lack of enthusiasm. Then the rush back to this moment, and a fresh breath and I feel I am in charge again. I am aware, and I am ready to resume control.

I picture walking into my office and I am not foreseeing conflict, but instead, accomplishment. I do not struggle with loose ends, I am busy with a 'plan'. I can hear the difference in the tone of my thoughts.

Secondly, Inspiration can find you anywhere.

I begin these mornings not sure what we will share here sometimes. And certainly, like everyone, there are days when I realize I am preoccupied with draining thought patterns. Worry, stress, anticipation, cluttered lists of action for the day, maybe a sense of unprioritized obligation.

And in a moment of reading a phrase, or a headline, or a goal, or like this morning, a quote - I am lucky to sweep off my "mental desk top" , to find underneath all that was a distraction, my passion. What it is that I am truly reaching for. And all that other stuff, slowly takes it's place is the order of what matters.

Call it lucky, or coincidence. I call it inspiration patiently waiting in the shadows. My faithful friend. How else would it know so often just where to find me, at exactly the moment I need it too.

Maybe, because earlier, I remembered to Enthusiastically, leave the door open for whatever my good friend, Inspiration, might bring by.

Good morning, and may you greet it with enthusiasm.

Pierre

Awaken Your Day - Oct 1 - Making the Best

"I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it..."

- Gilda Radner

And this is one of the underlying messages in all we do. What we strive to learn, and share thru all our little adventures. Making the best of it.

Even the adventure of getting out of bed and starting your day.

Knowing you have the option right now, in the first moments, to decide that you will take hold of the best that each moment brings, is a uplifting thought. Now remember that you have the power to make that decision last thru the day. What can you accomplish with that knowledge?

Think of it as a ripple effect. You begin on a high note, and then each encounter you have is altered by that state that you have chosen. Negative experiences get buffed and polished a bit, and positive ones get more appreciated and carried forward.

You may be having a tough go of it right now, or you may be on top of the world.

Whatever your situation or state, the moment offers the same opportunity. It offers you the ability to make the best of it. Your choice and your actions affect not only the moments to come, but all those people around you that are vibrating with the same energy you are.

Have a great day, and may it be an easy task for you to make the best of it.

Awaken Your Day - Sept 29 - Focus On You

"You have no control over what the other guy does. You only have control over what you do."
-A.J. Kitt

This is all about focus. Keep your mind on what you need to do for you, not what you need to do to keep up with someone else's success rate.

You cannot alter someone at your work, in traffic, at the grocery store, or even the telemarketer that calls at the wrong time.

This is one of those samples of how it is not what happens to us, but how we respond to what happens to us. We cannot stress this enough. The more we are aware of this, the more we touch on the thought at the times we need it most, and thus, the more control over what we do.

The same goes with your passion and desires and your quest for any success. You control what you do.

"I control what I do toward reaching my goals and attaining my success."
"I control what I do toward reaching my goals and attaining my success."

And with that simple gesture, of making it clear to myself, and repeating it, I have tapped into my awareness, touched an example and will now act on it.

It can be that simple. And in times of doubt, we stick together.

Good morning Partners, Seize the Day.

Awaken Your Day - Sept 26 - Take It

Sometimes, it must be a simple and direct thought to grab the day and mold it. But you must appreciate the depth of the message even in it's brief design.

Carpe Diem -

Seize the Day.

Oh, seriously...who am I kidding? Me be brief? When so often I mention that these meaningful phrases in our lives that we hear from different places, they need a little more that we can touch to fully grasp what it means to us - so it does not become just an off the cuff, casually repeated, not felt phrase.

So...for me, Carpe Diem - today I have a meeting and I will not go into it thinking..."Aw, another meeting!? "

I woke up tired, but Good tired because I slept well and I will recognize that and lose the sluggish beginning.

I have an opportunity to enhance conversations before they begin, by being in an upbeat and enjoyable position. I am choosing to be aware of that.

We have a team function happening today and I will play my part in keeping the humor in the air so that the team and I enter a weekend on an uplifted and forward note.

It is the little choices, and observations I have around me, that enable me and all of us to easily Seize the Day. It begins with your first ten breaths and a choice. Challenge yourself - to seize the day. Everyday. This is how prosperity begins. In all areas of my life, and I predict yours as well.

And ... away we go.
Good morning, good day.
Pierre

Awaken Your Day - Sept 25 - Your Discovery

"We all have the extraordinary coded within us, waiting to be released."
- Jean Houston

I am sure we have all seen a movie at sometime, or read a story about a superhero or someone with "powers". We recall in the story how they somehow came to discover that they had this power, and then how to use it - and in a good story, how to use it to help other people.

Often I find myself tripping over how to paint this same picture for our readers, or just for the everyday person out there. How do you explain in a believable manner, effectively express your belief, and then guide someone to the idea, the truth, and the passion that - they, we, all have a hidden power within us? Something extraordinary that just needs to be discovered.

This is not an easy challenge.

It is one thing to tell someone that you see great things in them, it is another if we can help to show them that it is not that difficult to get onto the path that will show us these great things. Things that will assist in The Discovery of all that a person is capable of and offer a glimpse of the opportunity to explore and find it.

In the coming months I will confess that I will reference this 100 Day Challenge that I have been fortunate enough to have my partner, Marq, over at her creation, Wealth World Inc., introduce me too. It is simply about bringing the best of you to your attention early in the day and then challenging yourself to enjoy and get the most out of everyday; on the way to Start Fast and Finish Strong. Such is our intention here too.

We challenge ourselves, to discover; to push the limits; to expand our mind and open our ideas. To see what we can be and become. How and why you choose to do that is up to you. I simply recommend it, for everyone. To challenge yourself. A program like this is a good way, as it helps us with a format.

I am taking this challenge to help me find my extraordinary code within me. The code that helps me unlock more of what is waiting within me. I just like that someone else laid it out and put it into words / actions that I needed to express what I was looking for. Someone else has provided the exercises and tools to help me locate the doors I want to open.

And on that note, I open my mind to more awareness of what I want today, to bring to my life, to meet what I am bringing to the day.

Good morning,

Awaken Your Day - Sept 23 - You, The Sculptor

"I saw the angel in the marble, and carved until I set him free."
-Michelangelo Buonarroti

Your Goals.
Your Dreams.
The day before you.

All of these are very much like a piece of marble, awaiting your vision to touch and shape into that which brings your vision to life.

We do not have to discuss dreams everyday, nor do we have to always be reaching for that goal in every comment we share. Much of what we need, is right in the here and now - the morning that leads to the success of each and every day.

I am so glad to have been introduced to a 100 day challenge to finish off this year. To carve my statue out of marble so to speak. That is where I borrowed today's little wisdom from. This challenge is right along what we try to do here each morning. So that means I will have another vision to help define my own, and then share that with you here.

You can see what I am up to here 100 Day Challenge

I will share more about this challenge later, but for now, enuf about me - Do you not have a Day to carve out, and success to let free?

Good morning, and good shaping of your daily masterpiece.

Awaken Your Day - Sept 22 - Obstacles to your Adventure

"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal."
- Author unknown

Doubt.
Where does it come from?
When we tap into our passion, or when it taps us and gives us a grand view of this desire, this goal we want to reach for - how does doubt find it's way in.

For the sake of not writing a novel on the topic this morning, let me be general and just say Doubt has Many doors to walk thru to invade our vision, and many disguises as well.

But one of our best defences, one of our best secret weapons to "obstacles" is quite simply Awareness.

You are aware, that if you lose your Focus, and begin to consider the other paths that "doubters" may introduce you too - then you are taking your eye, your mind and your passion off of the goal that just moments before you may have been 100% sure of. When you take your eyes off of the outcome you desire, and consider all of the sad "what if's" you worry that your dream may not be achievable .. you are not looking at the desire to draw on that passion ...you are looking on more unknown "Oh No's".

You create or pick up an "obstacle" that is not part of your plan.
Consider this, you sat down to draw a map to your goal. You were realistic but also held your belief in plotting your route. There are parts of your map that have to take into account some detours and plan extentions...but all the while you know that "X" marks the spot.

You did not draw other obstacles. You did not draw a maze to get to your own goal. A maze of blocked corredors or paths that lead to nothing. You did not draw them, for you knew what line to follow.

"X" marks the spot. Stay on it, and do not lose your focus.
You are aware, that doubt creates obstacles. Without a doubt, you are left with only the map you drew.

Stay with the adventure, and you will see that it is much more rewarding.

Good Morning.

Awaken Your Day - Sept 19 - Inner Peace

"When we are unable to find tranquility within ourselves, it is useless to seek it elsewhere."
- Francois de La Rouchefouchaud, 1613-1680

As my weekend approaches, and I get excited about having time to do all I want to do - I become one of those people whose excitement slowly makes the transition to frayed end of a rope as I create a larger and larger list.

I begin in the home office and I figure..."Hmmm.... I need a clean slate. I need this room nice and tidy and organized in order to begin my productivity run. " So ... it is confirmed... papers are moved, keys are turned, buttons are pushed, recycle bag is open, and voila I have a clean desk and a sense that I have conquered my dragon in the first battle of the day.

My head is high, my chest is out and the wind is blowing new short hair like a Romance book cover. I am, I said. But I do not feel the wind, for I am too busy trying to recall what is next.

Next .... well... not sure... because my To Do list is in the pile of papers, now in the bin, neatly placed under the desk, mentally filed under "Will get to sort that out sometime later."

And it begins again.

So...tranquility is my friend.

I will stop. I will breathe. And I will refocus on knowing I have a few things that mean alot to me and I will remind myself that I may not get everything done that just "needs" to be done. My mind is calmly on the task I choose once I have slowly thought about what is most valuable to me to do. One thing at a time. Not a race from one room to the next or one file to the next.

I owe it to me, my wife, and my desired results to approach with care those ideas I have to complete in my business, our home and my dream chasing.

A clean desk is a nice beginning, as long as I do not cover it with a hectic array of activity.
All that I do takes me to my next step on this enjoyable stroll thru my yard of "Want to do..."

And I begin, with taking in a Good Morning.

Awaken Your Day - Sept 17 - Power Source

Where does your strength come from?

For some, an easy question. For some a standard answer. For many more, a cause to ponder our emotional make up, visit a kaleidoscope of memories and present day images.

We share it often. You are unique, you are unlimited, and inside no matter where you may hide it, you are strong.

How did we get to this point? How did we get here, to be whom we know we are today?
To be happy within our skin, with whom we are today.

Visit the journey. Enjoy the ride. And acknowledge the results.

What is your Personal Power and where does it come from?
Finally - Celebrate it.

That should make the morning go a little more quickly.

Have a great day.

Awaken Your Day - Sept 16- Laughter

When in doubt, go for a giggle.

In these times of despair and government dominating the news, everyone needs a moment of humor to just relax our environment that surrounds us thru the day. We send best wishes to those faced with adversity and hope for strong leadership in matters of politics. And for ourselves, a few moments away from it all when at times it gets too heavy.

Do what you can to relax today, and if that does not work, come back and read some archives and listen to some music.

Or remember a funny one liner from a time when laughter was easier to come by.

Good morning.

Awaken Your Day - Sept 15 - New or Used?

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

New or Used? You have that option.

You can pick up a used Monday anywhere really. Many people talk about them. Quite often. You can pick up an old Negative Monday just about anywhere. Most people are practically giving them away. Just listen close ... like someone put an old CD on repeat.

Used.
Used stories. Used attitude. Used potential that never was.

Or ... you pick up a new one with the excitement of a child receiving a brand new set of building blocks.

New Monday...building block... or Used Monday.

You can find easy enuf, I am making a new trail.
Good Morning.

Awaken Your Day - Sept 12 - Leave Your Mark

"If you're here four more years or four more weeks, you're here right now. I think when you're somewhere, you ought to be there. It's not about how long you stay in a place, it's about what you do while you're there, and when you go, is that place any better for your having been there?"

- Karen Hall and Jerry Stahl

- Pic by Adrian Luhowy

I have told you before that I believe that if we are sharing moments here each day, you are a unique person. One who has an interest in the depths of who you are. Many of us do not realize that life rolls along, and we are not leaving our own distinguishing mark that we all undoubtedly can.

You are unique, and I believe, Unlimited.

You have a signature. It is my wish that each of us finds it, sees it and leaves it wherever we touch so that everyone else gets the benefit of the best we have to share.

Working on leaving my mark, and hoping to encounter many of yours along the way,

Good Morning.

Awaken Your Day - Sept 11 - Yesterday

Often in a moment, like many of you today, we may find ourselves reflecting on a point in time that has come, and gone.

If you were to put all of our thoughts together as we ponder the then and now, we would be in unison like a choir as our thoughts rang out the chorus of
"If Only I knew then, what I know now. How things could be so much different."

This day represents a great deal to a great many. Not to make light of that, but I realized that each day of the past has a great meaning to many - and so it is with that thought that I say we should surely acknowledge those moments; those days gone by.

But in that acknowledgement, let us find the strength to release the burden of regret, and unchain the weights of "What If".

This moment right now still waits to be sculpted. Our clay from our yesterdays is now stone. We can look upon it, and know what each line of the sculpture means and represents ... and it is our duty to ourselves and to all components of yesterday that we hold dear, to carry forward that knowledge, to take that and to shape each day with what you know now.

What you know now is a strength for this moment, so that you can build stronger all those to come.

Good morning.

Pierre

Awaken Your Day - Sept 10 - Parallel Lessons

I had thought of finding some awe inspiring quote this morning to just poke the bear of your thoughts so as to wake some inspiration from hibernation. The desired effect being that you are still running around at about 10 a.m. on some inspired train of thought.

Nothing sprang to me.

However, in running around I stumbled across a realization. Not a new one; and maybe that is why it stuck with me this morning.

We often are not fully aware of how we can parallel many of the little lesson "encounters" we have in our lives. For example, this last weekend I was very happy to find out that a member of our family, a teacher, has used my book, "All She Is...", in her classroom. I am not fully aware of exactly how yet but in some interpretive study of poetry, and she commented on the responses she has been getting. How thrilled I was and honored that she found some value in something I created to use with her students. I felt recognized, and I felt good about what I had accomplished.

In going over this thought on the drive home, I was jumping from one thought to the next until I recalled that at work, part of our companies recognition program is an employee satisfaction survey. One of the questions is if you have been recognized somehow in the last 7 days from someone at work for the job you do. Have you received recognition in the last 7 days.

I felt I had just received that for my personal life thru someone using my book for a greater good. And I tripped over the parallel opportunity.

Have I recognized someone in my life recently ? Have I expressed care and gratitude for their efforts of any kind and have I mentioned that they are in our thoughts or we wish them well or good luck with something they are tackling.

I was given a gift that something I had created had value that could be shared.
I recognized how I felt from that.
And another lesson from a different part of my life reminded me to share the feeling by giving it away the same way, our friend and family, the teacher, had done for me.
Parallels in the lessons are all around us.
Like inspiration that finds you anywhere, we just need to be gracious and ready to open a door to opportunity of all kinds.

Good morning, and may someone hear from you today, in a way that inspires them to voice to another, some value they possess. And then let the world wonder on the mystery of why so many people are having a good day.

Awaken Your Day - Sept 8 - An Open Moment

Life has a fun way sometimes of reminding us to gear down, and be in the moment.

Being Monday, we can move forward and embrace a new day and all it means for the week, for our momentum or for our energy level right now.
Or, if you really want, you can reflect on the weekend, and dwell on what you did not get done versus what you did, and let that stall you out at the starting line.

I awoke this morning to the realization that I did not become financially rich in the last two days. My home business did not see alot of activity from me and thus, no email this morning that says I can expect great cheques in the mail.

But I did awake to the knowledge that I had a good, stress free sleep.
I recapped all that we did gain and share this weekend with assorted moments shared with friends and family. I remembered the lack of complaining thru the weekend and how that was not weighing on me or my health like the morning after a whole chocolate cake to yourself.

I thought for a moment that at work, my desk is clean, my mind is clean, I am refreshed and low and behold, just like all the books say - my to do list is right there where I left it - and the world did not stop.

I have a fresh start this morning, on my week. I have good feelings to embrace and step confidently on to the starting line.

I have an Open Moment, free of regret or feelings of despair.
Insert - Opportunity Monday.

I think I will make this a day to remember - because I can.

Good Morning

Awaken Your Day - Sept 4 - A Familiar Thought

"There are two ways to look at life and the world. We can see the good or the bad, the beautiful or the ugly. Both are there, and what we focus on and choose to see is what brings us feelings of joy or feelings of despair."
- Lloyd Newell

My challenge to you this morning is simple.
Right now, think of something wonderful in your life or even in this life around you. Think of one thing beautiful and take a deep, fulfilling, knowing breath.

And now, think of something awful, hurtful, ugly or mean. Something sad or unfair. And take a long, frustrated, settling breath.

What do you prefer? What brings you more to move forward with? What holds you back, and slows your next movement?

I chose today's little comment, knowing it is something we hear almost like routine as we move thru day to day. I chose it because of that very reason. We hear it nonchalantly. We hear it like routine. And in routine, we begin to become less acquainted with the meaning and the understanding. We do not carry the message deep into our thoughts, but rather the thought with it's feeling begins to rest on the surface of our awareness .

Sometimes, the most often used expressions of well being need a visit, and a dedicated moment.

You have a choice this morning. What will your eyes be open too?
And I say, with more tone and anticipation -
"Good Morning."

And Happy Birthday to My Brother - Kelly. All the best.

Awaken Your Day - Sept 3 - A Little Mystery

Ah, it feels like a really good day for a little mysterious, mischievious grin. Try it and see what becomes of it.

Awaken Your Day - Sept 2 - A New Approach

"Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door."
- Dr. Laura Schlessinger

What picture comes to mind right now? Is there something in life that you are putting energy toward, but it is not moving the way you would like?

Often times, for reasons that are very individual, we set our thoughts on one path and feel we must "beat" this thing or some situation. We must get thru to someone, or get a point across.
And what happens just as often, is this obstacle, this wall - finds our frustration - and then in some ways, not only are we beating on a wall, but we are becoming more exhausted from the focus draining effects of that frustration.

We need to pause, rethink our efforts and rechannel our energy.

I have found in my own thoughts and experiences, that statements like Dr. Laura's are very effective if I am exposed to an example from her show at the same time; therefore something we can make a direct comparison to our life and maybe touch on something easy to relate. And we have a "Yeah, I know that feeling!" moment.

But there is value in sharing them in an everyday moment like we do here today.

Throwing something out to the wind like this today we have an opportunity to grab hold of what is happening in our life right now and identify it and move toward solution before we encounter a conflict. Once conflict sets in...it is often that wall we beat on.

An essential part of Awaken Your Day is

Initiate Directed Thoughts
Provoke Your Wisdom
Ingite and Generate Your Passions
and Call You to Action.

We share here so that beating on a wall is less and less of an option.
Becoming more familiar with our awareness, and our gathered wisdom - becomes the door we at times so desperately seek.

Don't spend time beating on a wall, when the path you are on may simple need a little clearing to find the doorway.

Good morning.

Awaken Your Day - Aug 29 - Push Your Limits

Before you stands a weekend.
A finish line of sorts for many of us who work at a job for a standard Monday to Friday obligation.
Before you stands a weekend, and often with it - an idea of what you will do with your time.
There is the list of what you should, or "have to" do.
There is an idea or a list of what you "want" to do.

Many of you have a list of some sort ... and many have an invisible word behind some of those things.

I want to work on the car ... "but"...
I want to take the family to the lake, "but"...
I want to work on my business,
I have to take the kids back to school shopping,
I need to get in some time for ...
I sure would love to ...

"but"

Do you know your boundaries? Your self made limits.
Do you know or can you see beyond them to that symbolic goal line where you have to get in order to check off items on a list of any kind.

Have a good weekend... as I picture you, and all of us, reaching beyond the boundary limit... and doing something a little more with our time.

Awaken Your Day - Aug 28 A Familiar Tune

I have to giggle some days ... at myself. I get on a roll with an idea and a passionate position with a topic and the words just begin to flow like crazy. I get all wound up knowing that I really have caught this idea and I am not going to let it go and I am going to put it all down here and share it and then you too will have all this "AH HA!" with me and we would be revving up the engines and charging out to meet the day!

And then I look down and I have to giggle. At myself. My over explanatory, really wordy, run on and on self. As I realize my point is made... but over 6 or so pages.

I want to inspire you - not make you go back to bed more tired than you were when you woke.

So with that, a familiar message comes to play yet again, and the meaning never gets tired.

Have a great morning, and all will get done - one step at a time.

"You can't jump down the stairs in one leap, however much you might wish to, and you even more surely can't jump up it, but one step and then the next and there you are, at the top or the bottom and not out of breath or discomposed."

Awaken Your Day - Aug 26 - The Best Hand

"We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand."
- Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture

Sometimes, one has to be very careful not to try to overexplain something that is strong on it's own. And sometimes we have to just make a statement and let an individual mind cascade down thru it's own thoughts, about the meaning of such an impacting statement.

Sometimes, like now.
We will share this again soon - but for now, just consider how you play your hand.

Good morning.

Awaken Your Day - Aug 25 - A Simple Choice?

"We can choose to be affected by the world or we can choose to affect the world."
- Heidi Wills

Ironic really - a simple statement and yet we could sit and discuss the depth of it for hours.
I am quite certain thick volumes of books have been written on the idea, just not with that direct statement frontal approach.

Still, a good and complete comment to begin an Opportunity Monday adventure.

By now I am hopeful that statements such as this one will trigger your thoughts and carry you forward thru the day . Bringing a good helping of insight and personal clarity as your thoughts, feelings and supportive memories all work together to bring you clearer visions of the unlimited power you possess, and all that we have to be grateful for - and how all of that offers us this gifted Opportunity to leave a mark for others to follow.

Ten good, deep breaths. A goal in mind. A canvas, or blank page of a day awaits.
Shall we begin another day working on this masterpiece?

I believe, certainly we can and we will.

Good Morning
