AYD - June 14, 2013 - Thank You

Thank you.
Just sayin.

To some I owe one.
To many, just repeating.
If you need one, please help yourself.
If you see someone in need, offer one up.

"Thank You."

Might just change the course of the day.
Go ahead, pass it on.

Good morning, creates a greater day.  A greater you creates an environment, better for all those around you.

AYD - June 13, 2013 - I see the Road before me ...

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

I often revisit Mr. Emerson's words.  Sometimes for the reminder, and sometimes for the simplicity of truth.

I feel good today.

My legs hurt.  My cardio is lacking badly.  I can feel the few pounds I have put on.  All of this before my inaugural  run this morning.

But I feel good.  Because within me was a want to get my butt in gear on my fitness goal, with consistancy.  So my Sandra helped with writing our schedule and this morning I honored that to her and I both and I got up at 4 to go for my first of many runs that will be part of my plan.

I did not do great, but I did better than I expected.  I did not call a cab to come get me half way thru.  I hurt but I was careful.  I was tired but I asked myself if I really was,  or could I press on to one more light pole before I walked for a bit.  I pressed on.

I feel good because I did it.  I started.  And to compliment the schedule, I planned ahead for my morning. I had my lunch prepared, my clothes laid out, and I did not feel rushed or pressured to haste thru my commitment.  I did not whine nor did I find myself mentally wandering off to an excuse to not do this.  I was actually in the moment.  Staying between the lines.  Thinking about my goals and how I might measure my gains.  I have identified my starting point, and it will be all Go from here.

I started my day off with a few steps toward a goal.  I was prepared and eased right into a comfortable transtion to work.  I put on new clean clothes for my special Father's Day time at my son's Preschool.  I have my tasks for work ready and feel no anxiety.  I have a fitness class tonite, right after Jaxon and Sandra tell me about their day and we play a little lego. I am enjoying the idea of it all.  It works.

I feel good.  With all my " I used to be able to..." , and my " I'm going to be able to..." tiny matters...entwined comfortably with my Here and Now comfort moments .
What lies within me is calm....and it is speaking very clearly.

Good morning, great day.
A greater you, brings a brighter environment to all those around you.

AYD - June 12, 2013 - You Really Are You Know...

"Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
- A.A. Milne

Now.... don't just read that and run along.  That is the problem with us all these days.  We do not let the message sink in.

Seriously spend a few moments with yourself.  Let your thoughts wrap around the words and ask yourself some internal questions ... give yourself room to see examples of where you are more than you often consider yourself to be.

You just might need to draw on one of those examples today.

Good morning, becomes a greater day.  And a greater you provides a better environment for all those around you.

AYD - June 11, 2013 - What is your Greatness?

"To say something nice about yourself, this is the hardest thing in the world for people to do. They'd rather take their clothes off."
- Nancy Friday

Hard to feel successful and command your daily performance, if at first you cannot acknowledge that you are the lead character in this number one hit show that is your life. - Pierre

I grew up timid.  I was a shy kid.  I was not very good at sports, or music, or much... but I had a big heart.
As I got a little older, all I wanted was to be liked and understood.  But that simple want, created bigger fears. One of my biggest fears was being misunderstood about how I portrayed myself...and so, I was always afraid to say anything good about myself for fear of being viewed as conceited.  Not sure how it all came about...but it was there.  And it dominated me, and made me even more timid.  That was then, but it was always my Now.

As life gives us experiences that slowly shape us, like a sculpture taking shape out of stone, one chip at a time, we eventually become  a recognizable piece of art.  Gradually as we look upon the invention before us we learn that we have taken on a shape that we understand.  We can follow the lines that form the image.  We can touch them and recollect the journey we have taken.  And in this special little story, we find moments to feel good within ourselves.  Maybe we recount some strength we have learned.  We recall where our smile comes from.  We recall achievements, born from practice and dedication.  I can go on and on...but I think you remember feelings like these.

What many of us often do not do ... is share these feelings, in expressing our feel good about ourselves.

Fear of acceptance maybe, or of being misunderstood.  Why do we find it so hard to say, "Hey, I like me, and here is why."  Not an easy answer, but with awareness, we can try to move that emotion to the side, to make room for some expression that carries far more benefit.

So at first we can acknowledge it ... that it is difficult for us.  We can carry on and then ask ourselves "Why",  or we can jump from the edge of the pool and cannonball in.

Say something nice about yourself, I dare you.  Tell me something I don't know about you.
Or...stand on the side of the pool, naked... and the rest of us will float around looking at you ... not knowing what greatness hides behind all the shivering goose bumps.

I am Pierre Couturier.  I am a good husband.  I am constantly trying to learn how to be a better dad. And I am becoming a better Author of my days, all the time. Oh...and I have chubbin cheeks that I learned to appreciate.

Have a good morning, so it can be a greater day, because a greater you makes a better environment for all those around you.
