Awaken Your Day - May 9, 2008

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

I hope you have something great in mind for your weekend. And I hope you go to it with built up excitement.

This weekend I take a step closer to a long term goal of mine. I am taking my motorcycle training. One step closer to a journey that is still two years of planning away. And I am finding it funny that I am getting more excited for it all, with every little step forward that I make.

Might explain why I am excited about a weekend. I have been running toward it all week.

Good Morning

Awaken Your Day - May 8, 2008

Do you talk to yourself in the car?
I have been doing some soul searching lately. Being honest with myself about some changes that are long overdue.

With that comes a variety of thoughts and memories and thoughts and opinions and questions and thoughts.... and often you really don't know when the whole inner search engine is going to rev up - like in the car - on the way to work.
It really feels good. Talking to yourself. Don't be shy. Really, I mean if someone catches you at a red light on your way to work, getting all into this one sided convo - just leave five minutes later the next day and you may never see them again. ( Or, hopefully he sees you do it everyday and you become comic relief for them and you enhance a life. )

But my point is, you cannot be shy with yourself when you are in deep search mode on your life, or dreams or just trying to find the root of the mood you are in. They say you are supposed to "dance like no one is watching" - and I take that right into "talk like there is no one to impress."

So, I came across something the other day, and it struck me that sometimes, we really need to get back in touch with who we are, for many reasons. Life goes on so busy around us, that we forget to sit back and just think about what makes us who we are. And we need to stimulate the mind, on the topic of Ourselves.

"Who am I? What do I stand for? What is my purpose? How do i maintain my sense of self in this chaotic, unpredicatable world? How do I infuse meaning into my life and work? How do I remian renewed, engaged, and stimulated?"

I found this passage in "Success Built to Last", co-authored by Stewart Emery. Look him up.

As I read it, I came to a moment where I thought about it, and it hit me that I have not sat down to get reacquainted with ME in a long time. I have a dream, and a passion and I am working on a goal that I touch with my heart and mind, I have a good life and I know it....but where and how did I begin to touch this road I am on? Who am I? What is my purpose? and so on... and so on....
We just don't do this anymore.

Take a few moments to yourself. No phone. No clock. Just good old, "Me, myself & I".
And ask yourself these questions. Don't be shy, for it is just you and ... you. But, the honesty you give yourself, bound by your own confidentiality, may just open your heart, eyes and mind to a world of abundance. You see, my goal is to help you see that you are permitted to feel gratitude toward yourself. That you can be thankful for the life you lead, and whom you have become. You must - if you want to achieve greater success - in any way.

And then, when you feel good about it all - and you have retraced some thought and memory and retouched an emotion or a feeling - you may just find a little more belief within you - and we have discussed what happens with Believing in yourself.

Who am I? Unlimited.
What do I stand for? Shared happiness and abundant life.
What is my purpose? Finding Prosperity and abundance in all areas of my life as I help others do the same.
How do I infuse meaning into my life and work? Tim Horton's coffee. :)

And by the way - the light is green.

Good morning.

"There is absolutely nothing that separates the elite from the paupers except their expectations. If you wish to rise above the masses, then let the fire burn fiercely within you. Do this, and it shall be done!."
- J. Arthur Holcombe, Author

Once again, we listen to words that we may have heard many times ... but then, that was not this morning when maybe we were ready for them to sink in a little deeper.

I have found at times that I have great passion... negative passion. I can be very angry at something - I can have the best argument - I can find, and touch every second of how I am being wronged.

I have great energy in that angry moment. When I have let the situation consume me, and I give it my negative all. We have all been there, some more than others. So why then, being aware of it, do we not attack our dream with the same intensities and conviction. Our dreams, which ironically are designed to remove us from those negative surroundings. Why do we not consciously apply that energy full force toward that which we love and want to expand, instead of that thing that drains us so very much? How is it that The Dream is not the consuming factor?

Challenge. It is easy to let out our negative emotions like a pressure valve - anybody can do that and most people do. What if we were aware of that for a few extra moments each day - and then instead we choose to make a profitable trade?

You may encounter frustration today - and the challenge is to tap into your awareness that frustration is like a high interest credit card - and you are tired of paying it. So then tap into your awareness and trade the moment for 10 good breaths, and a moment to ponder on a goal you are striving for. Give that moment, a moment, however many moments, a chance to be productive. Inspiring and not despairing. Inspiring instead of expiring.

The problem may still be there, just like a balance on your card, but without the compounded issue of high interest in a negative situation. Lower your interest level in those things that won't matter in a year. And channel that passion into what you desire the most right now!

Good morning - good day - good Trade.

Awaken Your Day - May 5, 2008

"Most people have no idea of the giant capacity we can immediately command when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives." ~Anthony Robbins

I know I turned a new page on my focus starting this last Saturday. I am more aware of how I have been denying myself the little extra effort it takes to get the cart rolling more consistantly.

I will keep you posted as to my steady momentum, and I invite you to do the same.
Take inventory, like most people do a budget, of your desires and the attention you have been giving them.

Can you scrape up an extra gesture of effort? Can you take one more step toward making it happen?

It might be that you find an extra 15 minutes a day...or you say no to that pie after dinner... or you turn off that television to read that motorcycle manual because your training is this weekend... ( Ya, little dig at myself there.)

A little gesture, toward added focus, will compound in your benefit - before you know what happened.
