Awaken Your Day - February 20, 2008

"Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think."
- Benjamin Disraeli, 1804-1881, British Statesman and Prime Minister

Great dreams, thoughts of greatness, should not be intimidating for you. Once you get rolling, with consistant motivation and belief, thoughts and dreams of great things will come natural to you. You simply have to let them, and follow them.

You set your limits.

You should not hear yourself say the words, "Oh, I could never..." before you even begin.

When you look up at a mountain before you, what do you see?
What thoughts go thru your mind when you look at this great task, this dream of great magnitude?
Do you look and see how hard it is?
Or do you concentrate on the reward of getting there?

I began to look way up. To the top of this dream.
To the summit of it. Way up there I see the snow covered peak of this mountain I have put before me. And I notice that my thoughts are becoming much more consistant.

One thought, for every dream, for every snow topped mountain.

Today, I will build a snowman.

Awaken Your Day - February 19, 2008

“The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were intended to be.”- Oprah Winfrey

How I wish someone would have sat me down in my youth, and explained this to me. That I could have started this journey sooner.
Evolve.
Sounds like Reach.
Achieve.
Become.
Grow.
Dream.
Accomplish.

When I grew up, there were no heros.
I had no one around me that drove home the value of setting goals.
Of trying big new things.
Reaching for what was seemingly beyond my grasp.

I do now.

In my role models I saw survivors, but I did not see what it meant to dream.
To chase something you were passionate for.
To believe in yourself.
To believe in yourself so much, that you went for more than just survival.

I do now.

Survival. I wish I may I wish I might. I wish.
Survival. Like maybe tomorrow I hope that the boss notices me.
Survival. Like, you know, things are really kind of tough right now, and uh, when next week comes around, it will be better…things will be different. Something will change. No really… really.
Survival. As in I have no idea what will come to me or what I can do about it, but I sure hope it gets better, and I am going to sit here and wait for “better” to just fall into my lap.
Survival. Like paycheque to paycheque.

“The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were intended to be.”

I spent a lifetime waiting.
Waiting for life to show me Easy.
I wanted the Cheat Sheet.
Point A to point B for Dummies.
The quickest route between two points is a straight line
– and someone else was just going to take me there or at least draw it for me.
Because, well, it didn’t dawn on me that if I just put in a bit of effort…

It has now.

I gave away many priceless days of life…Waiting.
Personal Evolution comes with a price. Personal investment.
To grow, you must invest. In you.
In anything you become good at, or more knowledgeable about, you must invest of yourself.

Time.
Belief.
Attention.
Focus.
Sacrifice.

Open Your Mind.

Somehow, it appeared I had finally paid the fare. Life came around and I began to Create something.
It felt good. I tasted some success.
But when I did, a funny thing happened.
I sat back and started Waiting again.
I thought life was going to throw a parade with everyone yelling “Hoorah! Look what you did!”
Not quite.

Part of evolving is constantly being open to learning.
I am not yet, the complete person I am meant to be.
I put my evolution on hold to kick it and enjoy the calm of surviving.
Surviving, turned out to be a whole lot harder than trying.
Sound familiar?

Now, I have seen what a day of personal evolution is worth.
I caught a good glimpse of what I am meant to be.
I have given away too many days without demanding anything in return.
Today, I step forward to collect a debt I owe to my success.

What are you willing to do to grow toward your personal success?
What is a day of your life worth, on the journey to becoming all you were intended to be?

Are you giving away a day - of your most treasured non-renewable resource, and asking nothing in return?
Are you waiting? Or are you Creating?

You, the artist, have the clay.
Good morning.

Awaken Your Day - February 15, 2008

"I believe that being successful means having a balance of success stories across the many areas of your life. You can't truly be considered successful in your business life if your home life is in shambles."
Zig Ziglar

Keeping it simple.
You have a weekend before you. My wish for you is that you can leave your J-O-B behind you and fulfill your commitment to your L-I-F-E and all the treasures it has waiting for you. It is my wish that you are able to enter into Your Time, and fill it with Growth, and Enjoyment of many kinds.

Successes that you design ...

Good Morning.

Awaken Your Day - February 14, 2008

Inspiration can find you anywhere…

Being a part of something…a sense of belonging… that is part of the journey to success isn’t it? Part of the path?

If it isn’t directly related to your specific goal, one cannot argue that having a sense of belonging can still be a very substantial supportive role.

It can be as simple as this. I had lunch with a friend yesterday. A friendship I consider is growing stronger. He gave me support for my book, and this blog where we all meet. He gave me ideas, and information to help make this little project better for you and I. In my excitement, I was reminded I was a part of something created here. I felt like I was a bigger part of what we share here, from the guidance from a friend. My feeling of belonging to this project grew stronger. A sense of belonging, to this purpose.

Now Stop. Consider for just a moment, a time in your life when you were a part of something. School play. The cheerleading team. The local theatre group. The gym. How did it feel? You didn’t feel, alone. And in that, you felt like more. You felt stronger. You felt, more capable. You felt more confident. And we all know that leads to more success.

American Idol.
Didn’t see that coming did you?
I told you, inspiration can find you anywhere…if you are open for business.
24 people out of literally thousands.
Now competing, but still, sharing a sense of belonging. We might call it, Dream Catching.

You can laugh if you want to. But aside from the obvious jokes and jests that comes from opinions on reality TV… do you ever stop to realize the courage it takes, to get up there…to try?
To put yourself on the line…for judgement…for opinion…from millions of people you will never know - for the benefit of your dream?
To try.
Magic, magic word…. Try.
To attempt. To make an effort. To go for it. To believe in it enough to put it on the line and try.

I need you to put aside the impression you get from television production, and touch base with the core of what you see when you watch a show like this. People, getting the courage, to take that step, to achieve that which they feel is their dream. They long so passionately for the opportunity to make a phone call, and say,
“Mom! Send more clothes! I am going to be here for awhile!”

I think you owe me a favor. For all the mornings we have shared, you can do something for the greater good.
Today, I want you to do something that will carry enough “good feeling” for someone right into the weekend.
I want you to consider two people, (The power of two) who deserve recognition for their efforts. Give them a sense of belonging, by letting them know you notice the effort they are making for personal success. Of any kind. Pick one from around you. Show them, you noticed. Let them truly feel like they belong to something, by letting them know that you notice what they are doing. They need you. They need to know, they are not alone.

The second person, is you. You need to recognize your successes. All of them. You need to look into a reflection of your life and give yourself the credit you deserve. You are reading this aren’t you? I commend you. I thank you. I encourage you. Now, it is your turn.

Acknowledge your efforts. Acknowledge your gains in this life. Acknowledge the fact that you are trying to make a difference in your life. And part of the reward of this is the reflection you give off to the benefit of the lives around you. You can do this effortlessly by being an advertisement for your own success.

Be a part of something great, and spread the inspiration of belonging.
Good morning.
