Awaken Your Day - March 25, 2008

“When we look around we find that everything is growing, evolving, progressing. Progress, evolution, growth are the nature of life.”
- Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

We know this. We study it, and we constantly see signs of how far we have come. Most common examples are listening to our parents tell us what it was like “when I was your age”. Or, just go for a walk around the neighborhood and ask yourself if you remember where that new housing complex came from because you could swear last week that lot was just a stand of trees.

What I am curious about, is how so many of us do not bring the evolution we see in the physical lifestyle around us, to a parallel within our lives. Now before anyone gets excited and says their life is just fine and they are quite happy, please understand that I am not questioning that.

I guess what I am saying is, many of us choose not to wonder about further growth. We are happy with a level of life that we may have attained, and in that life, for what ever reason, maybe we do not wish for anything more. We are happy. We are content.

That is fine, and really to each person goes that choice. But many of us think that, while we still watch television and dream of a progressed life. Get off that fence.

Here is what I am getting at. Many of us feel or we visualize that change has to be large and it is difficult and it will upset the apple cart. That it may upset some invisible balance that we have found. Some huge step, and therefore if it isn’t broke don’t fix it. And I wonder why we do that. Because really, it only stops us from trying something new. It feeds some ghost fear, and we let the start stop us. Something as big as a new business, or something so simple as trying a new food.

My thought is this. For every new door we open, be it from desire, or curiosity, childhood dream or just to say, “Hey, I did that.”, every new door brings us to a hallway we have never seen. Opening a door, counts as evolving. It counts as growth. It matters not what size of door. Or what we equate that door to mean ( a French class, a holiday we meant to do forever, a date, a new something ) . Remember, a step forward is a step forward.

A hallway you have never seen – and if you have never been in this hallway, who can say how many more unexpected colorful doors could be there to tap into something you have wanted or thought of. All new doors of life, for you to look at. To explore. By opening one. By answering that, “I always wanted to do that.”

You may be content, but that does not mean you cannot expose yourself to more of the potential you. No one is saying improvement on YOU is needed, all I am saying is that there is an amazing amount of life that so many of us are unaware of. Becoming aware to opportunities to tap into the hidden you – I don’t know….kind of like your own birthday present if you ask me.

If you looked at a resume of everything that is right about your life, it would be a pretty spectacular resume.
Now, what if you challenged yourself to grow just a little, to try something new or to explore something you had been putting off – and all of a sudden you discovered this resume just added another page of exciting things?

Aren’t you just the least bit curious about what you might find that maybe, you have been hiding from yourself?

Good Morning.
