It works with children.  We are purposeful when we are guiding them and we rely on this truth.
It works on us.  We know this as surely we can remember complaining that someone should have done this for us instead of giving us orders, or not recognizing our accomplishments while they point out a fault.
It works on others.  If we remember to use the lessons we have learned from our own growth, and share it forward for their benefit too.
